At the beginning of each day spend five minutes writing down five
to 10 things for which you are thankful. This helps to bring the good parts of
life to the surface, rather than the aspects that are more difficult to deal
with in your life.
When times get tough, take a few moments to visualize happiness.
Even when it's not so obvious - close your eyes, soften your shoulders,
breathe, and picture something that makes you smile.
During hard times our focus tends to move toward selfishness.
Though it may be counterintuitive, happiness comes from giving, not taking.
Each day name something that you can do for someone or something else, rather
than spending that time worrying about yourself.
The problems that are huge today, may not even matter next week.
Stop taking yourself and your life experiences so seriously. Remember this life
is short, so enjoy it.
